Why do people pay so much for wintergreen weapons? eg 50k+ for the spear.

Because there are a limited amount of them out there.

Wintergreen weapons, unlike regular pepermint CC weapons, were only given to tournament xulia betting winners. There are only a limited number of them and they are inscribable, so they can be used in PvE and PvP (for example, the spear is often used as a caster spear, +5 energy, +30 fort).

people like non-max items that cannot be added to your hall of monuments, and not give any recognition in GW2 ... lol
I personally only spend big on items that i can add to my Hall of Monuments, wouldnt waste the cash on somthing no one will even know you own by gw2

Yeah but I fail to see why they don't use normal inscribable spears that are cheaper and look better.

wintergreen spear is the best caster weapon in the game, unrivaled. no req is ftw.

But with 0 in spear mastery, you still do next to zero damage anyway.

I guess you haven't ever watched or played high level hero battles where some of the builds I've seen use barbs and all the caster heroes with spears its quite nice pressure along with being a decent caster weapon when modded properly.

Narsilik, if you still have your wintergreen weapon, don't be scam by other people.

Now wintergreen spear worth more than 250 ectos ! and others wintergreen weapons worth 30/50 ectos.
